I Can See Clearly Now

By goodness, I’m feeling better about America now than I have for a while. Not because of the economy, which is moribund. Not because oil and gas prices are hurting the little guys, including myself. I feel better because, deep down, I feel that Hillary is going to concede the race in time for Barack to kick John McCain’s ass. Oops — sorry — I meant buttocks.

I’ve been studying John recently. It turns out that John has a lot in common with Dubya. First of all, they’re both stupid. John finished 894th of 899 of his class at the Naval Academy. If his daddy and granddaddy hadn’t been admirals, he wouldn’t have been in there and wouldn’t have made it through. Then, he had a completely inauspicious career in the military. Call me a communist or traitor, but I’m not impressed just because someone was in the military and was shot down or taken prisoner. I was never impressed by the fact that Bob Dole wandered in front of a machine gun.

John McCain failed in his military career. Despite having every advantage, he stalled out way below the rank that his daddy and granddaddy achieved. After he wandered around doing public relations for the Pentagon, he met some rich 25-year-old when he was 43 and immediately ditched his wife, who had been severely injured in an automobile accident. His new bride’s family money enabled him to win public office, and he’s been a politician ever since. John McCain has never had what Americans would consider a real job.

Just like Dubya, John has never accomplished anything but being granted access to wealth. I won’t even go into the fact that whatever principles he might have espoused, he long ago gave up in the attempt to court mouth-breathing fundamentalist Christians in states that are still trying to abolish evolution.

John McCain is a skank. Or skink. Or skunk. Certainly stupid. Certainly unlikely to survive his first term. Certainly bad for America. Certainly bad for the world.

I think he can be beaten. I hope that Hillary can work with Barack toward that end. I think he should offer her the vice-presidency, and I hope she takes it. She could be a great vice president, and that ticket could really unite the party. I’ll take Hillary and Barack as campaigners against Mr. Sickly and anyone he can persuade to leap aboard the Titanic.

Yeah, I know that Barack, his wife, and myself don’t really like Hillary. So what? This is politics. We work with reality. The party pulls together. With a little intelligence for a change, the Dems have a chance to make a real difference. Let’s put aside our differences and start healing this country and this world, starting with a big dollop of humility.

Don’t worry, I’ll have more funny pictures soon!

  1. Right on, Jim! Very interesting McCain background stuff that I didn’t know.

If I knew how to post the picture of the 75,000 people who came out to hear Barack in Oregon over the weekend, I would.

p.s. Did you read what Mike Huckabee “joked!!!” about during his speech to the NRA? And he thinks he should be vice president. I think he should do time.

  2. Yeah, McCain’s going down. He’s stuck in the past. He’s stuck between a rock and a hard place. If he cuts left, the Dems will clobber him as a flip-flopper and the right-wing nut-jobs of his own party will cut him off at the knees (or at least stay home on election day).

If he stays put, all the Dems have to do is mention his name and W’s in the same sentence. This won’t be too hard because for all of the “Maverick” talk, McCain has basically been a shill for the Bush White House. McCain is stupid because he thinks all the spin about the “Surge” actually changed peoples’ minds about the war. Polls show otherwise.

Any time McCain tries to claim Obama isn’t serious enough on foreign policy, the Dems play the Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran video — ya know, the one where McCain is singing “Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran” on a stage, or the speeches where kept on confusing Shia and Shiites, or the other video, the one where he’s flanked by dozens of soldiers and hovering helicopters only to say that the Baghdad market he was visiting was really safe. The Dems have the same kind of ammo when it comes to the economy, McCains other Achilles Heel.

But really, all Obama needs to do is keep his nose clean because the one thing that the Democratic Primaries have done is send the registered voter numbers for the Democrats through the roof. All the voter-rigging in Florida and Ohio isn’t going to stop that. If that isn’t enough, there have been three special primaries in what were considered Republican strongholds. Three for three the Republican lost to a Democrat.

    McCain is done.

  3. I like your sub title “A man can never have too many flashlights.”

I am familiar with John Boy’s background. He’s a typical, sneering, look down the nose superior individual. His brain is twice as old as his body. The Republican Party is living in the 19th Century. I’ve argued for years that the mere possession of veteran status doesn’t entitle anyone to be president. I’m a veteran and I’m not even a qualified dog catcher. I believe the Republicans are running scared. They’re afraid a new appeoach will prove them wrong. And it will.

  4. Well, at least I’m not running for president. I should correct myself. I meant to say that McCain doesn’t know the difference between Shia and Sunni, not Shia and Shiite.

  5. Here’s reality, Jim, at least for me. An Obama-Hillary ticket would not unite Democrats as much as it would unite opposition.

The Clintons are widely hated. I have never understood what they did to develope this hatred, but they have and it requires consideration.

Why combine her with Obama, who has his own problems. Patriotism is an actual issue for a lot of people and those Michelle and Wright comments hurt. The gun and God stuff from San Francisco hurt. His race hurts. His inexperience overall and in foriegn affairs hurts.

The pair of them will lose everything between Oak Park and Marin County. An Obama-Hillary ticket is another 17 state strategy where if everything goes perfectly, they win a couple recounts, and get a favorable court ruling, the Democrats might win the election.

He needs a God, guts, and gun guy from Texas as his running mate. I don’t want to be hearing about Bill, Monica, Hillarycare, cookies, villages, or Whitewater this October.

  6. Mike, I think LBJ is already dead!
