I had another productive outing to Pick’n'Pull this weekend. It has been a dream of mine to have all the exterior parts of my car be relatively the same color. The silver mirror on this green vehicle was standing in the way of that dream. So, today, I scored a beautiful mirror, exactly the right color, powered and heated just like the original. In addition, I scored a speaker to replace a blown rear radio speaker, although I don’t know if it works. Finally, I dissected out a motor for a retractable antenna like my broken one. This one was broken too, but I learned a lot. I learned it’s going to take a major effort to make that antenna go up and down again. Something about like the effort required to bring about manned space flight.
I also opened up the passenger front door, reached in with a hard rubber hammer, and pounded out some dents. This was about 85% successful, which is as good as it gets for me with this stuff. I even attached the door interior so it pull right off any more when someone closes the door from the inside. Oh, and did I mention the front brake job?done
Finally, I tried a bizarre technique I saw on the Internet in an effort to further smooth out the dents. Don’t worry. I’m OK.
That hair dryer looks familiar!
